The Decision Framework
1. Term
The Decision Framework. The methodology that contains the five components defined in this section.
2. Definition
The Decision Framework is Sofía Silva Berenguer’s five-component methodology for how a person moving into independent practice identifies, sequences and sustains the decisions the structure around her used to make for her.
3. Purpose
To replace borrowed, external decision criteria with a system the client owns and can run without Sofía once the engagement ends.
4. Scope
Applies to women moving out of a structure that set their priorities for them (an institutional career, a family business, or years of externally directed work) and into independent practice. It is applied through the Choose Forward Intensive and the Room to Decide Circle.
Out of scope: technical business execution, including marketing, operations and financial systems.
5. Components
- Decision Clarity: naming what a decision includes, what it excludes and who owns it.
- Strategic Sequencing: ordering initiatives by energy and life, not a project plan.
- Initiative Pruning: deciding what to keep, park or let go, as deliberate design rather than failure.
- Sustainable Momentum: the review rhythms that hold a decision in place over time.
- Decision Architecture: the integrated system the first four components build, owned by the client.
6. Outputs
A named decision, a sequenced set of initiatives, a keep / park / let go sort, a review rhythm that sustains the decision, and an integrated system the client can run independently.
Success is measured by the client no longer needing Sofía to decide well.
7. Relationships
- Components: Decision Clarity, Strategic Sequencing, Initiative Pruning, Sustainable Momentum, Decision Architecture
- Operationalised by: The Choose Forward Intensive. The Intensive runs the framework’s first movement (Decision Clarity and Initiative Pruning) in compressed form, over two sessions
- Operationalised by: Facilitation. Facilitation is the working relationship through which the framework is applied: the practitioner creates the conditions, and the client owns the outcome
- Applied in: The Room to Decide Circle. The Circle applies Initiative Pruning in a group setting
- Resolves into: Decision Architecture. Applied in full, the five components resolve into the client’s own Decision Architecture, an integrated system that is hers, not Sofía’s
- Operationalises: Go and flow. The framework is the practical expression of go and flow
